Maintaining a safe environment for people, clients/ patients and health
care workers in a health care environment is a complex matter. Many infectious
agents are present in the health care environment. Clients/ patients might be
infected with communicable diseases or have wounds that carry infection.
Workers and visitors might also carry or be infected by disease. It will be
necessary to handle equipment, materials and waste products that carry infection.
